John Briner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williams Funeral Chapel - Holden on Jan. 31, 2026.
John William "Bill" Briner, 89, passed away January 28, 2026, at his home in Lee's Summit, Mo. He was born September 12, 1936, in Kingsville, Mo., to Arthur and Dorothy (Jones) Briner and graduated from Kingsville High School in 1954. After serving his country in the U.S. Army, Bill began his 30+ year career in banking at the Bank of Holden.

Bill was an avid sports fan and played semi-pro baseball for the Holden Chiefs. He had a deep passion for fast cars, particularly Corvettes, and he also earned a private pilot's license, often "buzzing" Royals Stadium during games to check the score. Bill and his wife, Rita, were married for 41 years and enjoyed spending time together at their Colorado cabin.

Bill is survived by his wife of the home; daughters, Andra (Mark) Truitt, Littleton, Colo., Sammeria (Otis) Miller, St. Simons Island, Ga. , and Monica (Damon) Rau, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Bobbie Sack, Lee's Summit, Mo.; his grandchildren-Ellen, Austin, Trent, Savannah, Cannon, and Dakota; and his great-grandchildren-Brooks, Georgia, and Rush.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Angela Briner; a son, Brad Farmer; a sister, Peggy Neger; and his two brothers, Harold Briner and Jerry Briner.

Interment will take place at the Kingsville Cemetery.
