Robert Burns Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beers & Story Funeral Home - South Hadley on Feb. 17, 2026.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" L. Burns, who left us on February 13, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on April 26, 1939, in Holyoke, Massachusetts.

Predeceased by his parents, Charles P. and Agnes (Haas) Burns, and his siblings, Charles Porter Burns, Jr., Janet (Burns) Mikna, and Marilyn Burns.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Prudence J. (Brooks) Burns of South Hadley, Massachusetts, his son, Bob Burns, and his wife Victoria Nelson of Lee's Summit, Missouri, as well as his daughter, Robyn Burns of South Hadley, Massachusetts, and his granddaughter, Brenna Burns, of Lone Jack, Missouri. Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews. He is also fondly remembered by the Charron family children, who regarded him with the affection of a father.

Bob served his country in the United States Army. He also dedicated over 30 years of his career to E.H. Friedrich Company in Holyoke, where he worked as a machinist. His hard work and craftsmanship were hallmarks of his career, underscored by his proud membership in the Carpenter's union and his previous involvement in the Evergreen Cemetery committee. He was also known for his skills as a good mechanic and he enjoyed reloading his own bullets and shells, which reflected his love for hunting.

A private ceremony honoring Bob's life will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, located at 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215, or through their website at joslin.org.
