John was born on November 19th, 1962, at St. Anthony's Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa to Tobe and Bobbeye (Boughton) Bruggeman. He was raised in Templeton, Iowa and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1981.

He married Brenda Schick (Haberl) in 1990 with whom they had Kelsey Mae and Brandon Henry together. John was a former volunteer firefighter for the Templeton and Carroll fire departments for over 15 years. Throughout his life he held many jobs of service but his favorite was being a bus driver for Carroll Community School District.

John was an avid Iowa State Cyclones fan. He enjoyed watching and attending games with his daughter Kelsey. He enjoyed driving around and listening to music, working on cars, fishing, watching racing and visiting with friends and family.

He is reunited in heaven with his son Brandon, his parents Tobe and Bobbeye Bruggeman, and brother George Bruggeman.

John is survived by his daughter Kelsey (AJ) Weston of Des Moines; siblings Jim (Cindy) Bruggeman of Templeton and Karen (Tom) Pearson of Elkhorn, Nebraska; and by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
