Nelson-Berger Northside ChapelJohn F. “Buddy” Rogers passed away Friday, January 16th, 2026, in his home with his family at the age of 89. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March, 21, 2026 at St. Michael’s Chapel, 2223 Indian Hills, Sioux City, IA 51104. Visitation one hour prior to service. Private military burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 23, 2025 at Calvary Cemetery.
He was born March 23, 1936 in Danbury, IA, the son of David and Bessie (Baird) Rogers. He was married to Mary Ann Van de Steeg in 1959. He worked at Terra Chemical and security at St. Luke’s and Gateway. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1954-1957.
In his younger years he was an avid sportsman enjoying fishing, pheasant hunting with his beloved dog Pepper and later his favorite, Lucky. He loved singing and could be heard busting out a tune anytime and anywhere he felt like it. Most weekends for over 40 years were spent camping on the Missouri. Many wonderful memories were made over those years with good friends and family enjoying boating, swimming, and bonfires.
The love of his life was Mary Ann, and is four “little tykes.” He taught his girls as well as his son to fish, shoot guns, ride motorcycles, and how to “change their own oil.”
He is survived by children Kristi Rogers, Kerry Buller, and Johnny Rogers and sister Mickey (Glenn) Hoff, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Buddy was preceded in death by daughter Kathy Stetzel, parents, sisters Ruth Perley, Lois Frink, Betty McCormick, and Annette Weihe.
The family requests no flowers please.
