Born in Chicago, Illinois, John had resided in the Salt Spring area for the past 7 years coming from Jacksonville. For 17 years, John worked as a respiratory therapist in the health and medical field. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Helen BuGay; and his sister, Thea Dupree.
Surviving are his wife of 15-years, Nancy Ellison; four sons, Rustin Bugay, Chris Huddleston, Dawson Bugay, and Jacob Bugay; step-children, Wesley Ellison, Jennifer Ray, Mitchell Ellison, and Lauren Finch; 10 grandchildren; and other extended family.
No services are planned.
