John W. Bunting, a man of honor and dedication, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024, at the age of 81. Born in 1942, to the late Charles and Florence (Bell) Bunting, he was a lifelong Bristol resident.
John proudly served his country as a member of the Navy Reserve. His commitment to helping others extended into his civilian life, where he became an integral part of the local emergency services community. As the past Chief of Bristol Fire Company No. 1 and a past member of Edgely Fire Station, John's leadership and bravery were an inspiration to many.
Beyond his service, John was an avid bowler. His passion for the sport led him to become a Junior Bowler Coach and league member of the Pennsylvania Bowling Association, where he shared his love for the game and mentored young enthusiasts. When John wasn't at the lanes, he could often be found outdoors, hunting or fishing.
John was preceded in death by his wife Joyce V. Miller Bunting, and later his wife Brenda N. Bunting, his daughter Linda K. Ryan, sons-in-law Ronald Ryan and Stephen Joyce, grandson Jonnathon Cenkner, great grandson Wesley Cenkner, and brothers Allen Hibbs and Joseph Hibbs.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Lillian R. Briar (Wentzel), Carl E. Hoilman (Donna), and Florence Bunting Joyce; grandchildren Wentzel Briar (Deidre), Michael Ryan (Cassandra), Laura Wolfram, Carl Santy (Ayanna), Christie Briar (Adam), Donald Cenkner (Samantha), Brandon Ryan (Robin), Ryan Watson (Lilli), Nicholas Cenkner (Norma), Christopher Watson, Dakota Hoilman (Aimee), Patricia Briar, Abigail Briar, Bryan Briar, and Lucia Briar; great grandchildren Aubrey Boring, Wentzel Briar, Jonnathon Cenkner, Lorenzo Claudio, Cailin Briar, Donald Cenkner, Mia Cenkner, Carter Ryan, Kellen Ryan, Nolan Ryan, Annie Hoilman, Linda Ryan, Iris Watson, and Cecilia Cenkner, as well as many nieces, nephews, and treasured friends.
Inurnment will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 10:00AM at Bristol Cemetery, 2519 Bristol Pike, Croydon, Pa 19021.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John's name may be made to Bristol Fire Company No. 1, 198 Wood Street, Bristol, PA 19007
