Frank McKown Bunting, age 93, died on November 3, 2025, in Altus, Oklahoma. He was born May 30, 1932, in Sand Bridge, Virginia, to William Alfred Bunting and Louise (Dudley) Bunting. He joined the Naval Reserve at age 17 and at 18 years of age, enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was a Korean War Vet. He was medically retired from the Air Force on 1 July 1970 after serving over 20 years. In 1955, he was assigned to Altus Air Force Base where he met and married Selma Lee Norris. They were married in 1956 at Vernon, Texas. After he was medically retired, he returned to Altus and made it his home. He was employed at National Bank of Commerce for two years until being hired at Altus Air Force Base in Civil Service in 1972, working most of his time in accounting and finance. In 1992, after working 20 years, he retired in Altus. He was a graduate of Western Oklahoma State College. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Thomas Green Bunting of Norfolk, Virginia, and a sister, Marylou Devincenzi.
He is survived by his wife, Selma, of the home; three daughters Connie Gonsellas, Deborah Bunting, and Selita Gribble; two sons, Frank L. Bunting and Dennis Bunting; seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church and Lighthouse Sunday School Class of Altus, Oklahoma, and was an active prayer warrior in the prayer ministry of the First Baptist Church of Altus, Oklahoma. He was a life-time member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion.
The Bunting family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. - 1:50 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1:00 pm - 1:50 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Graveside services Altus City Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, with full military honors.
