John Michael Burke, 73, of Iona, passed away March 8, 2026, at his home. He was under the care of Eden Hospice.
John was born April 10, 1952, in Berea, OH, to William Burke Sr. and Lois Hudlow Rand. He grew up and attended schools in Fort Bragg and graduated from Fort Bragg High School. He also attended Idaho State University. Afterward, John served in the United States Army.
On April 29, 1978, he married Cheryl Sumner in Fort Bragg, CA. John and Cheryl made their home in Iona, Idaho.
He was a member of The Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He enjoyed reading.
John is survived by his wife, Cheryl Burke of Iona, ID; son, Clint (Jennifer) Barry of Rigby, ID, son, Nathan (Shandel) Burke of Iona, ID; brother, William (Pam) Burke, Jr. of Branson, MO, brother, Pat Burke of CA; sister, Marianne Reynolds of CA, sister, Naomi Sallinen of CA; and 6 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Burke, Sr.; and mother, Lois Rand.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Iona Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
