Michael Eugene Burke, 69, of Clemmons, North Carolina, passed away at home on March 4th, 2026.
Born on November 26, 1956, to Roy Eugene Burke and Mildred Plummer Burke, Michael spent nearly his entire life in Clemmons, a community he proudly called home.
A man of deep conviction, Michael was a faithful member of Bethesda Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, NC. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 736 in Clemmons, a distinction that spoke to his character from an early age. He never let that spirit of service fade. He was also a founding member of the first Explorer Post at the Clemmons Volunteer Fire Department, and he went on to give back to the Scouting community as an adult leader, mentoring with the same values that had shaped him for many years.
Michael had a deep and lifelong connection to nature, and few places fed that spirit more than the Great Smoky Mountains. Whether casting a line on a quiet stream or simply taking in the majesty of the hills, he was most at peace outdoors.
Above all else, Michael treasured his family. He was a devoted father and a proud grandfather whose love for his sons and their families was the defining joy of his life.
Michael is survived by his two sons, Brandon Eugene Burke (Erin), of Greensboro, NC, and Daniel Ryan Burke (Catherine), of Mocksville, NC. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Conner Burke, Camryn Burke, Ryan Burke, and Gavin Burke; and by his sister, Susan B. Ford.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in passing by his granddaughter, Averi Burke, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 12:00pm, at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The will be no formal visitation held.
Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family.
