John William Burnsworth, 77, of Laketon, Indiana, died at 5:45 pm, Monday, February 10, 2025, at his home. He was born on April 25, 1947, in Wabash, Indiana, to J.W. and Lillian (Marker) Burnsworth.
John worked and retired from Diehl Machines in Wabash. He was a proud US Marine veteran serving in the Vietnam War. John married Rita Faye Miller in Lagro, Indiana on January 30, 1971. He attended Laketon Wesleyan Church, and loved serving his Lord. John enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Faye Burnsworth of Laketon; two daughters, Theresa (Javier) Estrada of Warsaw, Indiana, and Robin (John) Christy of Collinsville, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Michael (Makayla) Monroe of North Manchester, Skyler Compton of Warsaw, and Charles Belcher, III of Michigan; and two great-grandchildren, Lincoln Monroe and Lawson Monroe, both of North Manchester. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, John Burnsworth, Jr., daughter, Katina Belcher, and his brother, Jack Burnsworth.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Laketon Wesleyan Church, 85 Lake St, Laketon, with Pastor Duncan Prior officiating. Burial will be in Laketon Cemetery. Friends may call 1-2 pm Tuesday, at the church. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main Street, North Manchester.
