John Butler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services - Bloomfield on Mar. 2, 2026.
In loving memory of John Butler, who passed away peacefully in the early morning of February 16, 2026.

John was born on September 4, 1934, in Georgia, where he spent his early years and developed a love for farming and working with his hands. As a young man, he made his way to Hartford, Connecticut, in search of opportunity. Shortly after arriving, he began working in a factory and built a life rooted in hard work, dedication, and family. It was in Hartford where he met the love of his life, his beloved wife, Barbara Graves.

He lived a simple and meaningful life, finding joy in the things that mattered most. He loved tending to his garden, fixing and restoring things around his home, and traveling back to Georgia each summer to stay connected to his roots. He found true happiness in spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs, creating quiet but cherished moments with those he loved.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Butler; his daughter, Sonja Young; his son-in-law, Thomas Young; his son, Bobby Ivory; daughter-in-law, Linda Ivory; two sisters, Karen Howard and Minnie King; and his granddaughters, Cherelle Wilson and Senita Young. He is reunited in rest with his siblings who have passed before him, and he also leaves behind additional grandchildren and extended family.

John will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his steady presence, and the love he showed his family in the simple, everyday moments. His legacy lives on in the values he passed down and the memories shared by those who loved him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
