On Monday, July 15, 2024, John W. Cannon, Jr. joined the love of his life, Sue, in Heaven. He passed away peacefully in his sleep with loved ones by his side. A visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 on Wednesday, July 16, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 19, 2024, in Meadowlawn Memorial Park, Enterprise, Alabama.
John was born to John Cannon Sr. and Rosa Watkins Cannon on April 8, 1940. He was raised in Enterprise and graduated from Enterprise High School. Shortly after graduation, he joined the US Navy. After a short career in the Navy, he returned to Enterprise and started the next chapter of his life. It was while working at the drive-in movies he met the love of his life, Sue. He and Sue enjoyed a long life together as a married couple for over 42 years. John missed Sue terribly after her passing in 2006.
John was dedicated to his family, work, and his faith. He was quiet, often thinking about things before voicing his opinion. One knew a decision or opinion would be forthcoming when he was silent. He possessed a dry-quick wit that caught you off guard. His blue eyes sparkled when he knew he had you, and a grin appeared. Not many knew the faithful John, as he hid the softer side. Only people close to him experienced the wisdom and faith he possessed.
Proceeding John are wife, Sue Wesley Cannon, his parents, and one brother. He is survived by his daughter, Charrisa Henley; granddaughters, Brittany and Marrisa; two great-grandchildren, a brother, and other family members.
The family would like to express their most profound appreciation to the staff of Christus Hospice. Over his tenure with Christus everyone became family. Yvonne, you are now family. He loved you and always looked forward to Fridays, which meant your fried fish.
John, rest in peace, my friend. Job well done. Miss Kitty misses you.
