Jimmy Cannon, Jr., 84, of Blackshear, GA passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024. He was born in Collins, GA, on May 12, 1940, to the late James Walter Cannon, Sr. and Keziah “Kizzie” Oliver Cannon. Mr. Cannon moved from Collins, GA to Blackshear, GA to fulfill employment at Nimmer Chevrolet in the 1960’s and then proceeded to employment at Blalock’s Body & Wrecker Services. He owned Cannon’s Body Shop & Wrecker Services during 1974 to mid-1980’s. He then worked for Lumber Transport in Cochran, GA from 1981-1997 and also owned J&J Trucking. Mr. Cannon owned Cannon & Sons until he retired in 2022. He enjoyed working on auto vehicles and diesel trucks. His passion was working and socializing with his family, friends, and buddies.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife: JoAnn Waters Cannon; 2-sons: Danelle Cannon and Jim Cannon; 3- infant sons; daughter-in-law: Faye Cannon; son-in-law: Nathan O’Neal; 2-brothers-in-law: Julian Sapp and J.C. Green; 4-brothers: Willie Cannon, Sidney Cannon, Walter Cannon, Elton Cannon, Daniel Cannon; and a sister: Katherine Green.
He is survived by his children: Kenneth Wayne (Lynn) Cannon, Kerry (Iva) Cannon, Everette Cannon, Angie (Sonny) Bland, and Jerri O’Neal; a special great-granddaughter: Chaselyn Thompson; a sister: May Sapp; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Youmans Chapel Baptist Church in Blackshear. A service will follow at 11:00 AM with Bro. Jimmy Thrift officiating. A private burial will be at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery.
