John Cappetta Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care - Robinson Township on Dec. 13, 2025.
John R. Cappetta, 92, of Pittsburgh, passed peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

John was the beloved husband of the late Dolores Cappetta, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion. He was a loving and proud father to Jeff (fiancé Jennifer Ruby) Cappetta, Leslie (Frank) Jacovino, and John Samuel (Renee) Cappetta. He was a cherished grandfather to Carla, Chad, Curt, Kenzie, Kelsie, Todd (Jessica), Patrick, and Alyssa, and a devoted great-grandfather to Tommy, Charlotte, Luca, Gia, Hayden, Zoey, and baby Elliana, who is on the way. John is also survived by his brother, Patrick (Pat) Cappetta.

John proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the tank division. He dedicated more than 30 years of service to the Port Authority as a bus driver, a career he took great pride in until his retirement. Known for his strong work ethic and friendly nature, John made lasting connections with coworkers and passengers alike.

An active man who enjoyed staying busy, John was a longtime member of the Dormont Horseshoe Club and an avid bowler. He bowled in leagues in both Munhall and Whitehall and proudly achieved a perfect 300 game, a highlight he treasured. In his earlier years, John was deeply involved in his children's lives and enjoyed coaching baseball for his sons' teams, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Family meant everything to John, and he will be remembered for his steady presence, quiet strength, and unwavering love for those closest to him.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136 from 12:00 PM until the time of the Blessing Service at 3:00 PM with Father Thomas Burke officiating. Army military honors will follow the service. Inurnment will be private at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
