John Carlson Obituary
John Halger "Kayo" Carlson, age 92, passed away on March 18, 2026.
He was born February 8, 1934, to the late Gustaf and Esther (Johanson) Carlson in Council Bluffs, IA. John graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and then proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Jo Carlson and Ocie Mae Carlson; siblings, Dola (Harold) Plough, Stewart (Evelyn) Carlson, and Charlie (Bonnie) Carlson.
John is survived by son and daughter-in-law Greg & Penny Carlson; daughter, Ann Carlson; grandchildren Stephen Carlson and Stephanie Carlson; and grandchild by choice, Cassidy; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. The family will direct memorials.
