John T. "Jack" Carney of
Mount Laurel, NJ peacefully passed into his eternal home on February 9, 2026, at the age of 95. He was a wonderful caring son, husband, son-in-law, father, Poppop and friend to many. Jack was born to Wilbert and Edna (nee Mutchler) Carney in
Mount Holly, NJ in 1930. He was the beloved husband for 50 years to Eileen (nee Baumann) who proceeded him in death. Loving father to Glenn Carney (wife Karen) and Susan Wilson (husband David). Cherished and dedicated Poppop to grandchildren Kyle Wilson, Kevin Wilson (wife Kerry), Lauren Carney and great-grandson Callum Jack Wilson.
Jack retired from Moorestown Township as Director of Public Works after working for the Township for 34 years. He then worked for Alaimo Engineering for 6 years as Head of Inspection. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. Jack was a longtime member First United Methodist Church of Moorestown where he, his wife and family spent much time worshipping God and fellowship with friends. A Life Member of Moorestown Hose Company Number One, where he served in various capacities as a former Assistant Chief, Lieutenant, President, Secretary and Trustee. He was a Life Member of the New Jersey State Firemen's Relief Association, Burlington County Fireman's Association and New Jersey State Fire Chief's Association. In addition, he was a Life Member of the Moorestown First Aid and Emergency Squad, holding various positions as Lieutenant, Treasurer and Trustee.
Jack was always dedicated to the betterment of his local community, serving as a member of the following: Burlington County Mosquito Commission, New Jersey DEP Licensing Board for Water & Waste Water Treatment Operators, American Water Works Association, Water Pollution Association, American Public Works Association, Delaware Valley Public Works Association, President of Moorestown Rotary Club and 13 year member of the Moorestown Planning Board.
Jack's favorite times were spent with his family. He adored his wife, children and grandchildren and always made them his top priority. Jack's children have fond memories of camping with their mom and dad. You would find Poppop on the sidelines cheering on Kyle and Kevin at the roller hockey rink and Lauren on the tennis court.
Jack always wanted to be doing a project even during his last several months at Wiley Mission, where you'd often find him diligently working on a jigsaw puzzle.
His viewing will be held at First Methodist Church, 446 E. Camden Avenue,
Moorestown, NJ 08057 on Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 9:30 am – 10:15 am. Service to follow at the church at 10:30 am.
