JOHN CHAFIN CARPENTER, age 71, of Jefferson City, TN went out with his boots on to be with the Lord on September 18, 2022. John was born November 17, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Betty Linder and William Carpenter. John served four years in the military as a Marine, where he suffered two combat wounds, and received two purple hearts. He also won the Golden Gloves in the light heavy weight boxing division, located in Anchorage, Alaska. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, John Greyson Carpenter; and his brothers-in-arms who are all happy to receive him as we are sad to lose him. John Carpenter is survived by his wife of 45 years, Monnie Carpenter; children, Shye Carpenter (Becky), Angel Carpenter, and Cody Carpenter (Brittany); grandchildren, Ashley Carpenter, Taylor Heatherly (Ross), Skylar Brodley, Nate Carlock (Danielle), Hailey Lunsford (Dakota), Troy Carpenter, Cole Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Camren Carpenter, River Heatherly, Atlas Heatherly, Delilah Heatherly, Elijah Lunsford, Ainsley Carlock, Brenlee Carlock and Tate Carlock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Farrar Funeral Home. Military graveside service will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2022 at Arkansas State Cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas.
