John J. Carter (Jack), age 88, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, in Norton, MA. Jack was a former resident of Walpole, MA for 41 years. He was born on August 26, 1936, in San Diego, CA. Jack was a proud graduate of Norwood High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance at Boston College. His professional life was marked by dedication and integrity. He spent over 35 years working at Bay Bank before concluding his career at Walpole Cooperative Bank. Jack was an honorable member of the Army National Guard Infantry Division, receiving an honorable discharge in 1964. His commitment to service extended beyond military into his personal life. Jack volunteered for many years at the Walpole Food Pantry. A devout Catholic, Jack’s faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He found joy in community through his church.
Jack is predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruth, for 53 years with whom he shared many cherished memories. He is survived by his sister, Sheila Faherty of Norton, MA; his children John Jr. and his wife Joanne of Raynham; David and his wife Gail of Plainville, Peter and his wife Kristine of Walpole, Paul and his wife Diane of Walpole, and Susan Burke and her husband Steve of Ashby. He was a proud Grandfather to Sarah, Jake, Michelle, Nicole, Courtney, Dylan, Katie, Kim and Great Grandfather to Roux and Joud.
Jack enjoyed fishing trips, camping at Pine Knoll, afternoons on the golf course, listening to music and dancing. For many years Jack and Ruth were Snowbirds in Naples, FL. Jack’s life was one of happiness, love for family, and simple pleasures. May his memory bring comfort to all that knew him.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Jack's visitation on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 11:00 am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 549 Washington Street (Route 1A), Norwood. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, 320 Winter Street, Norwood.
