Born in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Schell) Cassel.
John was a United States Marie Corp veteran and an avid New York Giants fan.
Surviving with his wife are his sons John J. Cassel Jr (late Andrea), and Jason V. Cassel, husband of Kelly; grandsons, Jacob, Jason, and Dylan; granddaughters Ashley and Brittney; great granddaughters Lydia and Milan; and great grandsons Denny, Jaxon, and Sabastian. Along with his parents he is predeceased by his 3 sisters.
Services and interment are private.
