John Ceccacci Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grace Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home - Hudson on Mar. 19, 2026.
John Joseph Ceccacci was born December 15, 1935 in Manhattan on Catherine Street to Joseph and Diamonte (Dina) Vona Ceccacci.

He was the youngest of 8 siblings including Cesare, Frank, Mary, Albert, Susan, Mario, and Angelina.

As a young boy, he was always interested in music. His father was a musician of many instruments. So much so that he picked up the guitar and was self-taught. He would gather his friends from the neighborhood, and they created a band. Years later as adults, they would regularly connect to bring the band together with their families.

When his band split up and the others went to college, John pursued a printer's apprenticeship with his brother-in-law Frank Celenza. John continued his work in the printers trade until 1999.

On August 10, 1957, John met and fell in love with Vicki (Vita) Pappas at a friend's house in Marlboro, New York. They later married on February 21st, 1960, and moved to Oceanside on Long Island, NY.

Their daughter Maria G. Ceccacci was born in 1962 and their daughter Catherine A. Susch was born in 1964.

They moved out of their Oceanside apartment to a house in Deer Park, NY in 1965, where they remained until 1999.

In Deer Park, John and Vicki were very active in their Church, St. Cyril and Methodious including supporting pre-Cana.

In 1999, John and Vicki fully retired and moved to Timber Pines Community in Spring Hill, FL where he was very active with his new band The Timber Pines Jazz Band. He was one of the founding members of the band and not only did he play guitar in the band, but he also transcribed music for the different instruments, he was the music librarian and printed tickets not only for the band but also the Italian club.

He is survived by his two daughters, Maria and Catherine.
