John Robert Chalk

It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the news of the passing of our father, John Chalk. Sadly, he passed away peacefully, at home, July 2 at the age of 92. John was a kind & caring man that brought happiness to so many people. He was a blessing & God's gift to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
John began his 40+ year career with Michigan Bell when he was hired to work in the mailroom when he was 16 & eventually retired from management. In his free time he also volunteered for their Michigan Pioneers program.
John was a Korean War veteran that lived a life most of us only hope to experience. He traveled the world, was an avid athlete & enjoyed competing against his friends in the senior golf, bowling & volleyball leagues. John was an avid gardener who also enjoyed volunteering at the Meadow Brook Garden Club after he retired.
He cherished the unconditional love he shared with his wife of 60 years, Mary, before she passed in 2017. He is survived by his children Caryn Delk (Kevin) & Kevin Chalk. Cherished grandfather of Samantha Aylmer (JJ) & Carli Gratz. Devoted great grandfather of Phoenix, Ari, Cyrus & Maverick.
Family will receive friends Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 2 - 8 PM at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Price Chapel), 3725 Rochester Road, Troy (between Wattles & Big Beaver).
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 11AM at the funeral home. Visitation on Friday begins at 10:30AM.
