John Richard Chapman, age 97, of Emmetsburg, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
John was born on March 19, 1928, in Marathon, IA to John Edward Chapman and Pearl Ruby Franksain.
John grew up on the farm with seven siblings. In 1950, John married Donna Marie Stephenson and together they raised five children.
They made their home in Marathon until 1983. After retirement they than moved to Lost Island Lake.
They enjoyed many travels with friends and family. John’s favorite pastime was fishing at Silver Lake, whether it was summer time or middle of the winter.
Later they moved to Emmetsburg until their passing.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Donna; two sons: Richard and Bill; granddaughter, Charity; brothers: Jim, Rueben and Bernard; sisters: Marjorie and Josephine.
He is survived by his children: Steve, Kristie (Roy Koenig) and Jim (Jayne); 11 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
John’s wishes were to be cremated and no formal services will be held.
