Judy Ann (McCarty) Pingel was born on August 24, 1943, in Hartley, Iowa, the daughter of John and Seraphine (Zensen) McCarty. She grew up in the Sanborn area, graduating high school from Sanborn with the Class of 1961. She worked various jobs in the Spencer, area, residing there with her 3 boys. In the early 90’s, Judy & Lee moved to Beatrice, Nebraska where they made their home for over 20 years. She was employed with the Southeast Mediation Center as director, retiring in 2011. Once retired, she moved back to the Spencer area to be close to her family. Judy enjoyed spending time outside with her flower beds, doing chair yoga, crafting and working on her special projects. Her kids, grandkids and Charlie were her enjoyment. Traveling with her sisters created many memories. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Judy passed away peacefully at her home on February 5th, 2026, with her two sons by her side.
Judy is preceded in death by her companion, Lee Broady; her parents John & Seraphine McCarty; her sister and her husband Karen & Dick Kamradt; her brother & his wife Jerry & Karen McCarty.
Judy leaves to cherish her loving memory: her dog Charlie; her children: Curt Pingel & family of Pella, IA, Shawn & Kari Pingel and their children Isaac & Hannah, Izzy & Ryan, and Breyer; Bill & Peggy Pingel and their children Ben & Shea, Jacob & Rachel all of Spencer, IA; sisters; Janet (Jim) Pittman of Alexandria, SD and Gail (Dale) Looft of Montgomery, MN; many other relatives and friends.
