John "Chip" Claude Reynolds

A service honoring John's cherished life will take place on November 9, 2024, at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Sterlington Road in Monroe, LA. Friends and family are invited to celebrate a life that, although it ended too soon, was a true gift to us all. There will be time to gather and reminisce from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with the service commencing at 2:00 PM.. 

John Reynolds, age 55, a beloved figure in Monroe, LA, passed away suddenly at home from natural causes in the early morning of October 28, 2024.

John “Chip” Claude Reynolds was born to Neva Jane Reynolds on August 30, 1969, in Bastrop, Louisiana. Chip was a lover of life, living each moment to the fullest, with every breath he was given. He is preceded in death by his mother, Jane Tucker; daddy, Larry Tucker; his birth father, John Sibley; his grandparents, Claude and Maggie Sue Reynolds, and Garland and Beth Tucker; his aunt, Susie Reynolds; and his beloved niece, Madison Winkler. He is survived by his life partner Derrick Green; brother Terry Cortney Winkler and wife Laura; sisters Amy Dufrene, Aaron Sibley, and Anna Chandler; brother John Sibley Jr; uncle and aunt Preston and Patsy Reynolds; most precious nieces and nephews, along with multiple cousins and a large extended family composed not only of those related by blood but also by love. Chip cherished his family and friends above all else and always sought more time with them. He spent most of his youth in Ferriday, Louisiana, and graduated from Ferriday High School. Chip began his college journey at Northwestern State University, then enjoyed some adventurous days at Louisiana State University and the University of New Orleans before ultimately transferring to and graduating from Northeast Louisiana University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication, Media, and Theatre. Chip was a veteran of the United States Navy, having honorably served and sailed around the world, including the Gulf of Oman and the United Arab Emirates, during Operation Desert Storm. He had a deep appreciation for the arts in all its forms and dedicated much of his life to performing, directing, and producing plays and productions across the United States and Europe. He retired as the undefeated Reynolds Family Trivial Pursuit Champion. Chip was passionate about his career at The Radio People, where he was an on-air legend for the last 25 years. He cherished his time there with his work family, especially with his brothers from different mothers, Toby Otero and Big Jim Elliot. Chip possessed a remarkable gift for making others laugh and was dedicated to raising money for numerous charities. Chip, you will forever be missed but will always remain in our hearts. To quote one of his favorite artists, Prince: “If you ever lose someone dear to you, never say they’re gone. They’ll come back.” We love you and will see you in Heaven, Brother, “dancing in that purple rain.”
