John Chopich Obituary

John Chopich, age 69, of Elkhart Lake, WI, passed away unexpectedly on September 17th at his home. He was born on May 14th, 1956, in Sheboygan WI, a son of the late John and Delores (Holzer) Chopich.

John attended Sheboygan South High School graduating in 1974. He also graduated from Lakeshore Technical College with his State of Wisconsin Apprenticeship Card.

On March 12, 1983, he married Barbara Kwiatkowski in Sheboygan WI. This is where they started their journey together as well as their family.

John was known for his tireless work ethic. Hardworking was more than just a trait, it was the cornerstone of his character. John's unwavering commitment to his work was matched only by his commitment to his family, as he strived to be a guiding light for his kids. John started his career at Sheboygan Paper Box working as a machine operator after graduating High School. He had a 23-year career at Pemco Inc working as a machinist and Forman. This is where he gained a lot of his dear friends and companionships.

He was also fiercely proud of his Slovenian heritage; His pride in his roots showed in the way he shared stories of his ancestors. His involvement with Cub and Boy Scouts was a testament to his desire to give back to his community. A lover of music, he could always be found tapping his hands to the rhythm of a favorite tune or humming the melody of a song that struck a chord deep within him. Music was his escape, his joy, and a source of endless happiness. No conversation was complete without mentioning his beloved Green Bay Packers. His humor, passion, and endless banter about the Packers kept everyone around him on their toes, never letting anyone forget who truly owned the gridiron. And of course, no matter the circumstances, he always made it clear that The Bears Still Suck!

Later in his life, became a proud Grandfather. His grandchildren were everything to him and enjoyed going to the park to watch them play, enjoying a meal at Culvers, or just a simple hug and I love you. He enjoyed being a "grandpa" to a few loving pups as well. Sharing stories of dog sitting, going to the dog park and being barked at. He enjoyed the company of many pets over the years and those memories will be cherished forever.

Survivors Include: One Daughter: Katherine Walczak (Ben) of Sussex One Son: Jonathan Chopich of Sheboygan Falls; Three Grandchildren: Tanner, Connor, and Carly; His Brother Dennis Chopich of Sheboygan Two Brothers-in-law: Kevin Bennin of DePere and David (Kathy) Kwiatkowski of Amherst. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Chopich and one infant daughter (Chantall) and his sister Debra Bennin.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Suchon Funeral Home from 10:00AM-12:00PM; with a Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 PM. Rev. Robert Schrader will officiate. Burial will be at Greendale Cemetery in Sheboygan.
