John Cicak Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jardine Funeral Home, Inc. - Strongsville on Dec. 11, 2025.
++ John J. Cicak (Jack), passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio, at the age of 98. Born on March 5, 1927, in Berea, Ohio, John's life was one marked by dedication, service, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear.

Jack's journey began as the son of the late John and Barbara Cicak, where he learned the values of hard work and compassion that would define his life. His early years in Berea laid a strong foundation for the remarkable man he would become. He bravely served in the Occupational Army in Austria during WWII where he earned the Army of Occupation Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

Jack was a beloved husband to Alice R. Cicak (nee Harangozo) for 63.5 years. Together they built a family that would be his pride and joy. He was a loving father to Dara Bedford (Bill), Craig Cicak (Tara), Jed Cicak (Dan), and Renee Dickson (Steve). His role as a father was one that he cherished deeply. His cherished time with his family included family camping vacations and yearly trips to Put-In-Bay. His hobbies included perch fishing in summer and winter ice fishing around Put-In Bay, golfing, and enjoying attending Cleveland Browns and Indians games.

Jack's dedication to his family was matched only by his commitment to his community. From 1952 – 1984, Jack served with distinction as a member of Berea's first Paramedic team, a Captain, and an Assistant Fire Chief, where his courage and leadership left an indelible mark. His colleagues and those he protected will remember him as a man of integrity and valor. He continued once retired from the City of Berea, to be involved with members of his community through Jack's painting and carpentry business.

As a grandfather and great-grandfather, Jack's legacy continued to flourish. He was the cherished grandfather of Bill (Liz), Kristen (Eric), Jacob (Julie), John, and Jeff, and the adored great-grandfather of Graham, Elton, Flynn, Sadie, and Reese.

John J. Cicak lived a life of honor, service, and love. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will forever remain a guiding light.
