The family of John Lacy Clark of Middlebury, Connecticut and Acapulco, Mexico is saddened to announce his passing on December 27, 2025 at the age of 71. Prior to moving to Connecticut John lived in New York City and East Brunswick, NJ. He died at his home in Costa Azul, Acapulco.
A life well-lived, John Clark was born in Mexico City, Mexico on October 28, 1954. He was the son of Diego Hill Clark, an Argentine American, and Lucille Menges Clark, a New Yorker. He was one of five children. After living in Mexico, Guatemala, and Peru, the family moved to East Brunswick from Latin America. John graduated from East Brunswick High School in 1972. He graduated from Vassar College in 1976 with a major in Art History and International Studies. A life long learner, John received a Masters in Library Sciences and a Masters in Business.
After college, John joined the family book business, managing several stores before joining Verizon, previously known as the New York Telephone Company where he managed the Research organization for the Regulatory Department focusing on state and federal government affairs, legal compliance, and public policy. John’s life passions included traveling throughout the world, visiting museums and historical sites, supporting painters and musicians and entertaining family and friends with delicious meals and telling funny anecdotes. John was cherished by all for having a heart of gold, a great sense of humor, and being kind and generous. In addition, he was an avid gardener and a member of the New York Athletic Club.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his husband Jim Ronald Harrison and his younger brother Robert William Clark. John is survived by his partner Dr. Louis Filhour of Middlebury and his siblings: James Hill Clark who resides in Las Cruces, NM; Lucille Alicia Clark, a resident of Mesa Arizona; and Florence Maud Clark, from East Brunswick NJ. He is also survived by his nephews Gabriel Mehany Clark, Robert William Pangilinan Clark and his niece Lacy Rose Pangilinan Clark. He will be greatly missed by his many cousins and friends throughout the world.
A Memorial Service for John will be held at his home in Middlebury in June, 2026. Details will be provided to friends and family once arrangements are finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to the Arbor Day Foundation at arborday.org.
