Appalachia VA – John (Randy) Clark "Frog", 74, passed away on March 19, 2026 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.
A lifelong resident of Appalachia, VA, he was affectionately known as Randy or "Frog." He served in the Virginia Army National Guard. He was the founder and owner/operator of Clark Welding Tanks in Appalachia, VA since 1991. He was known by his peers as an extremely hardworking man. He enjoyed boating, traveling, cooking, and Westerns on TV. Randy was a generous person, often sharing with people in need. He was especially fond of dogs and cats. He was of Baptist Faith.
He was preceded in death by parents John and Sarah (Sturgill) Clark, Sr. and siblings, Mary Bolling and Michael Clark.
Randy is survived by his children, Melissa Hicks (Steve) of Kingsport, TN, Laura Belcher (Allen) of Appalachia, VA and stepson, Greg Gibson of Appalachia, VA; grandchildren, Caitlyn Ballou, Madison Church, Brylan Gibson and Sarah Bloomer; several great grandchildren and his loving partner, Tammy Boggs. He is also survived by his special friend and foreman of his business, Gary Frazier, and the faithful employees of Clark Welding Tanks; and close friends, John Meade and Arnie Riggs.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave. W., Big Stone Gap, VA.
The family requests that flowers not be sent to the funeral home, but Randy's wish was for people to give a gift to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105
