John Conly, Jr.

John R. Conly, Jr. passed away peacefully on December 10th at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, NH, at the age of 83. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Mary-Ann, and brother Dennis. He leaves behind three daughters, a sister-in-law, two nephews, a niece, and eight grandchildren.

John was born and raised in St. Johnsbury, VT, and spent two decades working for the Plainfield Fire and Police Departments. He had a passion for gardening and took great pride in growing his own vegetables. Over the years, he and his family tended large vegetable gardens together, and later in life his green thumb endured with his patio garden. He was so delighted to have eaten tomatoes that he grew right in his room at the nursing home. He also loved camping, cooking, and traveling - passions that brought him joy and strong connections throughout his lifetime.

John was blessed with wonderful caregivers at the Grafton County Nursing Home. His family wishes to thank each and every one for their loving kindness and exemplary care. Their devotion helped make his days brighter and his life that much sweeter. His lifelong friends, Elwood and Nancy Cohen, held a very special place in his heart. His lovely warmth and spirit of fun and good humor will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

There will be a graveside service at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury, VT, on June 12, 2026, at 11 a.m.

The family asks that donations be sent to the Kingdom Animal Shelter in lieu of flowers.
