Lyndonville, VT: Nancy C. Hale, age 86, of Lyndon Terrace, passed away at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, VT, the evening of December 25, 2025.
Nancy was born in Walden, VT, on May 4, 1939, daughter to the late George Dexter, Sr. and Madine B, (Porter) Cahoon. She grew up in Walden and graduated from Danville High School in the Class of 1957. She married Glendon Hale, Sr. in 1974 and shared 46 years at the time of his passing in 2005. They operated Glen’s Auto over the years where she kept the books amongst other duties, but she had several other jobs including Burndy’s, Brickett’s Diner, Howard’s Bank, Bartending, preparing food at Meals on Wheels at the St. Johnsbury House and later in the kitchen at Pine Knoll in Lyndonville. Mumzy, as she was fondly known, enjoyed putting up flowers and keeping the gardens looking nice, was a member of the Eastern Star and donated religiously to several organizations over the years. Nancy was past member of the North Danville Baptist church and was truly a people person who loved being a social butterfly. She sewed and knitted and made many mittens which were given to the fire house for Toys for Tots each year.
She is survived by her 4 children: Tina Patrone and husband, Rory, of Harker Heights, TX, Sheila Dodge of Danville, Earl J. McReynolds of WRJct., VT, Gary Hale and partner Katrina and her daughter Karina and granddaughter Hailey of Lyndonville. Grandchildren & Great grandchildren: Jeremy, Josh, John, Jordon, James, Cameron, Brandon,Trenton, Sam, Dylan, Kassidy & Hannah. Step Children & Grandchildren: Brenda Hale and partner Dennis, Grace and Riley, Rick Hale and wife Karen and son Aden and daughter Lyndsey, Glenn Hale Jr. and wife Mary Jo and sons Ethan and Eric, Holly Blair and kids Chelsea, Tyler, Colby and Adriana.
She was predeceased also by her daughter, Wendy Somers in 2023 and by an infant child and grandchild as well as 4 siblings: George Cahoon, Marjorie Chickering, Ruth Smith and Paul Cahoon.
Friends may call on the family from 5-7PM Tuesday evening, December 30, 2025, at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury.
Burial will take place in the spring at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury and a Celebration of Life will be planned in conjunction at the Lyndonville American Legion around that time.
