John "Sean" Connor

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John "Sean" Connor, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend of many, who left us on September 26, 2024, at the age of 81.
Married to Whitney Bowe Connor, together they built a life rich in love, laughter, and joyful memories. Sean was father to Sean C. Connor (Patricia) of Johnston, RI, Brian P. Connor (Jacqueline), Mary E. Connor and Patrick J. Connor all of Warwick, RI.
He was a proud grandfather to Michaela Curran, Maegan, Sean Patrick, Liam, Margaret, Declan, and Kellen Connor. He was
Recently promoted to great-grandfather of Virginia Curran. Sean also leaves behind his brother, James O'Connor (Joan O'Connor deceased) of Castleisland, County Kerry and four nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his sister and brother in-law Karen and William Cardarelli.
Raised in the townland of Knocknahoe in Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland, he immigrated at age 19 to the United States. Arriving in Boston, Sean eventually made his permanent home in RI. Known for his warmth and "gift of gab", he loved discussing the local political landscape as well as the events and music happening "across the pond" in Ireland.
A passionate advocate for Irish culture Sean coordinated the Annual St. Patrick's Day celebration held for many years at the Rocky Point Palladium, which was attended by thousands. Sean also proudly hosted a highly rated Irish music radio program on WGNG in RI called "The Sounds of Ireland", alongside Whitney Connor and recently deceased Mike Sheridan and Jim Murray. He had been a long time member of the RI Ceilidhe Club.
Prior to his retirement, Sean was a long-term employee of the Sheraton Airport, where he loved chatting with coworkers, meeting new customers and airline staff, while leaving all delighted by his gentle manner.
His circle of family and friends will miss him dearly and remember the twinkle in his eye, passion for conversation, and love of music. We will miss traveling with him and experiencing his guided tours of the rolling hills of his beloved Ireland.
A service will be held on a date to be announced in the future.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in Sean's memory to the San Miguel School In Providence, RI, would be appreciated.
