John Arthur Sylvester Coppers, of Bakersfield, California passed away on October 14th, 2025. He was born to Roy and Maria Copper in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on September 21st, 1964, their only son. John passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Rebecca Coppers, his children, Ana, Jacob, and John, his granddaughter Ophelia and his sisters Cathy Sperring and Mary Joan Curran. He is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Maria, and lifelong friend, and virtual brother, Dennis. His loss is felt by all who knew him, as he leaves behind a legacy of generosity, friendship, humor, and service to his fellow man. He faced life with boundless curiosity that led him from studying computers as a child, into careers in IT Support. He concluded his career journey as a Technology Services Supervisor with the Kern County Department of Human Services, where he made a friend of everyone he met.
A lifelong friend and confidant to many, John was always ready to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need. John's kind, warm, and magnetic personality attracted everyone he met, and made him a friend of so many of his neighbors and coworkers. He lived as an inspiration to all who came to know him. He met every challenge with determination and energy. Besides his own aptitude for technology and tinkering, he was always happy to pass on his expertise to the people in his life, and countless projects across numberless homes bear the mark of his knowledge. He loved Star Trek, spending time near the ocean, and could reliably be found enjoying the sunset with a good cocktail in hand. He relished any opportunity to bring his friends and family together for food, fun, and laughter.
Wake Services for John will take place on October 22nd from 1pm-4pm at Monarch Memorial, 2801 F Street, Bakersfield, CA 93301.
