John Wayne Cortez

John Cortez, 70, of White Pine, peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior at his home on December 30th following a brief illness.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Melba Marzelle Bailey Cortez; his father, Joaquin Cortes; his first wife, Linda Cortez Dees; his second wife, Robin Burnham Cortez; and his brothers William Faulkner, Patrick Cortez, Mike Cortez, and Jack Bonebrake.John is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Holbert Cortez; his children, Jamie (Kim) Cortez and Jodi (Patrick) Cortez-Croft; his grandsons, Zac (Madison) Cortez, Zeke Cortez, and Zandon Cortez; and his siblings, Juan, Shelia, and Elena Cortes, and many cousins, neices and nephews.A devoted member of First Baptist Church in White Pine, John was committed to serving the congregation and fostering fellowship within his community. He was known for his kindness, steadfast faith, and his cheerful spirit, often sharing his love through his barbecue, corn, and his famous crazy fries. His life exemplified his dedication to God, family, and community, leaving a lasting impact on those he touched.While he will be greatly missed, his family finds solace in knowing he is now in heaven, peacefully rejoicing and hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, 7:00pm in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, White Pine, family will receive friends between the hours of 5-7:00pm prior to the service at the church. Graveside Interment will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 1:00pm in White Pine Cemetery.
