John Elliott Cosper, age 76, of Geneva, passed away on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025, with his family by his side at his home. John was born July 30, 1949, in New Orleans, LA, and lived there for the first two years until he moved to Cleveland Heights, OH., and was adopted by his parents, William and Barbara (Rice) Cosper. John attended the Hawken College Prep-School in Gates Mills, OH and graduated in 1967. He worked in the phone industry for over 30 years for Bell, Verizon, and AT&T where he worked out in the technical field. In his free-time, John loved to read books, especially thrillers by Stephen King and various history documentaries. John was Episcopalian in his religious faith and later joined the Catholic religion when marrying his wife Mary and they attended Our Lady of Assumption in Claremont, CA, and also attended St. Noel's in Willoughby, OH. John married his love, Mary Louise (Jablonski) Cosper on January 27th, 1979, and together they shared over 46 years, raising their family. John and Mary spent many years donating their time and energy to the Baja Children's Foundation in Tecate Mexico, where they assisted the foundation to grow and acquire resources to care for the many children they helped, they also spent a lot of time working to help the Flying Samaritans Organization in Baja, CA. John is survived by his loving wife, Mary Cosper, his children, Michael (Susie) Cosper, Jennifer (Matthew Sr.) Nett, Shannon (Robert) Cosper, Mary Elizabeth (Nick) Brown, grandchildren, Brittany (Matthew) Kazsmer, Dillon Cosper, Ian Brown, Stephanie and Riley Cosper, Matthew Nett Jr., Breanna Pool, Joey Nett, and 9 great-grandchildren. John is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Barbara Cosper, by his grandparents, Roger, Lela Rice, by his cherished son, Joseph Anthony Cosper, and by his brother, James Cosper. A Visitation will be held Sunday, August 17th, 2025, from 3pm-4:30pm, with a Funeral Service from 4:30-5:00pm all at Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Rd., Geneva, OH. 44041. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA, 22116-7023. The Cosper family would like to thank Hospice of the Western Reserve for all of their care and compassion, Geneva-on-the-Lake EMT and Fire Rescue for their response and care throughout John's journey, the many neighbors and friends that showed love and support, and to Father Phil Miller for his assistance with Catholic Committal Prayers.
