John Cotter Obituary

John Cotter Jr.
John Cotter Jr., known to all as Jack, 65, of Branford, CT, passed away suddenly at his home on January 17, 2026. Jack was born on July 15, 1960, in New Haven, CT. Jack graduated from Southern Connecticut State University. After college, he pursued a career with SNET, where he worked for various phone companies as a cable splicer for the past 40 years. He was employed at Frontier Communications until the time of his death. Jack was passionate about sports and spent many weekends watching games on television with his son. Their voices could often be heard echoing through the house-whether the New York Giants had blown another game or the New York Yankees had won a World Series. He was also an avid Notre Dame fan and was fortunate enough to attend a game and see the Golden Dome. One of the best days of his life was meeting Lawrence Taylor at a meet-and-greet in Branford. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Judy, of 37 years, and their two children, Liam and Delaney, whom he loved with all his heart. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Cotter; his brother, Robert (Donna) Cotter of North Branford; his sister, Katie (Chris) Kelly of Titusville, FL; and his sister-in-law, Barbara (Sam) Feder of Cranston, RI. He is further survived by his nieces, Robin and Jessica Feder and Caitlin Castellanete, and his nephews, Robert Cotter Jr., Christopher Cotter, and Griffin Cotter. He also leaves behind many aunts, cousins, and wonderful friends. Jack was predeceased by his father, John Cotter Sr., and his brother, Christopher Cotter. Jack was a humble man who lived his life as a devoted husband, father, son, and friend to many. His wife and children were his world, and this was apparent to all who knew him. He had a smile that was both infectious and unforgettable. The world lost a good man the day he died.
The visiting hours will be on Thursday, January 22nd from 4 to 7 p.m. in The Havens Family North Haven Funeral, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Mary's Church of St. John Bosco Parish at 731 Main Street, Branford on Friday morning, January 23rd at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. www.northhavenfuneral.com

Judy, my heart goes out to you and your family in this incredibly sad time. It was always nice to see you and Jack at gatherings. He came up to me once and asked if I remembered him and I said of course I did. I told him how happy I was that you married such a good man, because you were one of my favorite people. He said "Mine too". Please know your friends are here for you and how much we care and love you.
