John William Couter, 66, of LaVale, MD passed away October 30, 2024 after a seven year long and courageous battle with cancer.
John was born in Cumberland, MD on September 17, 1958 to the late Charles and Evelyn Couter.
He graduated from Allegany High School with the class of 1977. Next he served his country in the U.S. Army, and continued in the Army Reserves. Followed by a career at Williams Concrete and National Jet Co. where he was a tool maker.
In his spare time he enjoyed endless home improvement projects and spending time with his two beagles.
Surviving is his wife of 47 years Diana Lynn (Johnson) Couter; a daughter, Christina Marie Washburn and husband Daniel; a son, Jason William Couter; three grandchildren, Zachary, Lilianna, and Parker Washburn; his siblings, James Couter and Jane Stegmaier and husband Richard; a large extended family including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and his beagles, Bailee and Cooper.
In accordance with his wishes John will be cremated and there will be no formal funeral services; the family plans to have a celebration of his life at a later date.
