Services for John P. Cox, 78, of Valley Mills, TX, and formerly of Midland, TX will be 10:00am, Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at the age of 78.
He was born January 17, 1946 to Jome (John) P. Cox and Irene N. Miner Cox. After graduation from high school, John proudly served in the Air Force. He met and married the late Virginia Ruth Bowman Cox and they embarked on their life together, for over 50 years, in Texas and Mississippi. He retired from a long career, predominantly in the oil and gas industry, where he worked as a Petroleum Landman.
John was a Master Mason in good standing, who's home lodge was Midland Masonic Lodge #623 AF&AM, Midland, TX. He was a member of the Midland Shrine Club, a branch of the Suez Shrine (San Angelo, TX), and the American Legion Post 19.
John was preceded in death by his wife, his mother, and father. Mr. Cox is survived by his loving family: daughter, Juli Rester (James); son, Jim Cox (Kim); grandchildren, Rivers Hughey (Kevin), Connor Cox, and Caden Cox; and great-grandchildren, Estelle Hughey and Grant Hughey. John is also survived by his sister, Joyce Panciera and brother, Bruce Cox.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Scottish Rite for Children (Scottishriteforchildren.org) in John P. Cox's memory.
