Columbiana - John E "Jack, Curly" Crawford, age 94, of Columbiana, died on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at The Inn at Old Saybrook, Columbiana.
He was born on March 5, 1930, in Salem, son of the late Eugene and Mary Simonds Crawford.
John was a 1947 graduate of Salem High School and served in the U.S. Airforce in a combat zone during the Korean War. He graduated from Duquesne University, graduating in 1958 and worked for the federal government. He was a member of the St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, Columbiana, The Knights of Columbus Council 10183, past Grand Knight and also member of the Fourth Degree. John was also a member of the Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion and the Elks Post #305.
John is survived by his wife, Carolyn Rowlands Crawford, whom he married on September 10, 1955; three children, Mark (Janine) Crawford of Leland, NC, Jeffery (Annise) Crawford of Luray, VA and Susan (Tim) Talley of Luray, VA; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marcella Moffett and two brothers, James F Crawford and Joseph F. Crawford.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, Columbiana.
Mass will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11:00 am at the St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, Columbiana, with Father Chad Johnson officiating.
Burial will take place at Grandview Cemetery, Salem.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, 180 7th Street, Columbiana OH 44408.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
