John Wayne Crayton passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 72. He was born on Wednesday, September 2, 1953 in Independence, Louisiana to the late Catherine Carrol Crayton and the late Earon Crayton. He was a resident of Natalbany, Louisiana. John retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development after 30 years. He went on to work for Tangipahoa Parish School System from 2017 until 2019, and later continued working at Walmart. He also worked for Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church for 12 years. John was a loving, friendly soul whose kindness and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His favorite saying was "Blessed by The Best."
John is survived by his wife, Mary Crayton; and his son, Dustey Crayton.
In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by his siblings, Pete Crayton, Ginger Crayton, Jerry Crayton, Douglas Crayton, Rena Dameron, and Jane Ormund.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 56084 Alfred Richardson Road, Loranger, Louisiana 70446, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Cemetery, Tickfaw, Louisiana.
