John Henry Creech, 91, U.S. Air Force Veteran, of Elizabethtown passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023. He was born in Duplin County on December 22, 1932 the son of the late Harper and Maggie Barnett Creech.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marion Creech. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 70 years, Irene Creech of the home, sons John Creech (Debra) of Spartanburg, SC, Ronnie Creech of Whiteville, and Reverend Mark Creech (Missy) of Whiteville, three grandsons, Jonathan Creech (Callie), Joshua Creech (Carleigh), and Jamison Creech (Madison), four granddaughters Ashley Creech, McCoy Creech Butler (Seth), Madison Creech Marsh (Will), and Molly Creech, and four great grandchildren Harper, Allison, Caroline, and Sophie.
John was a devoted Christian family man and a dedicated North Carolina Highway Patrol Officer and NC DMV Inspection Officer. He had a genuine love for his community and law enforcement. He was a recipient of the Long Leaf Pine Award for his sincere dedication and service. John’ s dear wife Irene was the apple of his eye and he loved spending time with his children, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. John was a life long member of the Elizabethtown Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his love for the Lord, his family and his willingness to serve.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 5-7 pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 4th at 1 pm at the Elizabethtown Baptist Church. The Reverend Rudy Ramphal, Reverend David Elks, and the Reverend Mark Creech will be officiating. An entombment will follow the services in the Devotional Gardens Cemetery at 1260 NC Hwy 24 and Hwy 50 in Warsaw, NC 28398.
At other times the family will receive friends at the home of Reverend Mark and Missy Creech at 48 Mahan Street in Whiteville, NC.
