John W. Dabrowski

1922 - 2012 ADAMS John W. Dabrowski, Sr., 89, of 117 Orchard St., Adams, died on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at Craneville Place in Dalton.

He was born in Adams on Nov. 17, 1922, son of Joseph and Honorata (Ciejka) Dabrowski. He attended schools in Adams, including St. Stanislaus Elementary and graduated from the former Adams High School. Mr. Dabrowski was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Marine Corps, and a radio repairman and operator and had participated in action against the enemy until July 4, 1945, in the Southern Phillipine Islands. He was transferred to China and was honorably discharged on May 22, 1946. Mr. Dabrowski worked for many years as a machinist in the Naval Ordnance division of General Electric Co., Pittsfield until retiring in 1984.

He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He was a past member of the Retired Men's Golf League at Stamford Country Club and the Retired Men's Bowling League at Mt. Greylock Bowl, North Adams.

His wife, the former Theresa Zappone, whom he married on Oct. 16, 1954, died on Aug. 6, 2010.

He is survived by two sons, John W. Dabrowski, Jr. and his wife, Mary, and Michael J. Dabrowski, both of Adams; one daughter, Deborah Boesse and her husband, William, of North Adams; three sisters, Celia Danecki, Helen Szufnarowski and Janet Wilk, all of Adams; five grandchildren, Derek Dabrowski, Sally Dabrowski, Megan Dabrowski, Aimee Boesse and Amanda Boesse; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Walter and Stephen Dabrowski, and by one sister, Phyllis Blazejewski.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 9 a.m. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, 214 Barker Rd., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
