Early Thursday morning, April 10, 2025, John Waymon Davis entered eternal life at the Lawton-Fort Sill Veterans Center in Lawton. John was born January 29, 1934 in Forester, Arkansas to Harvey Jefferson Davis and Glenn (Neeley) Hawkins.
Graveside services are planned for 2:00PM, Tuesday, April 15, at the Marlow Cemetery with Dr. Joe Ligon officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Matt Davis, Michael Jacob Davis, Nick Peterpaul, Cassidy Young, Danny Taylor, and Craig Flanagan. Honorary pallbearers are Isaiah Nelson, Elijah Nelson, Talon Peterpaul, Ford John Davis, Ryan Miles, Ethan Miles, Logan Harper, Michael Harper, Ryan Stuart, Larry Wiginton, Phillip Myers, Leo Stagner, Welcom Wiginton, Charlie Reece, and John Belter.
John attended Waldron High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in October 1961. After a short courtship he married the love of his life, Mollie Jolene Wiginton, on May 18, 1956 at the Nazarene Church in Marlow. They had been married 66 years at her passing in 2023.
He worked for Skelly Oil Company as a repairman but claimed farming as his main occupation since 1960. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed hunting in Wyoming, New Mexico, Arkansas and Colorado. John was an excellent marksman who also loved horses.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Jay Davis and wife Kim, Kay Hall, Michael Davis and Cathy Burd; grandchildren: Joei Miles, Leslie Nelson, Matt Davis and wife Natalie, Kristen Harper and husband Kevin, Michelle Hall, Haylee Peterpaul and husband Nick, Michael Davis and wife Danielle; great grandchildren: Ryan Miles, Ethan Miles, Isaiah Nelson, Elijah Blue Nelson, Delaney Davis, Brynlee Davis, Sage Jolene Davis, Ford Davis, Logan Harper, Michael Harper, soon-to-be Jubal Harper, Talon Peterpaul, Laken Peterpaul; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and many friends. John was preceded in death by his wife, Jolene; parents; brother Harlan Wayne Davis; twin sister, Jessie Wilma Belter, and sister, Betty Gardner.
