John Mardis Dees

John Dees passed from this life on December 10, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Vilma, and his children, Michael, Eva, Kelly and Christina. All were raised in the Grapevine/Colleyville ISD. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He grew up in Detroit, Michigan and Philadelphia, Mississippi, and in 1957 he joined the air force. It was there that he found his fascination of flying and decided to make it his career. He worked for Pan American Airlines for 27 years and retired in 1992. He struggled to stay retired and became an integral part of the development of the 13-acre plot that his family called home for 23 years. He made the Lord his daily discipline and never knew a stranger, investing and giving to so many along the way.

He retired in Colleyville and lived his remaining years close to his children. He was committed to his family throughout his life. Together his family grieves with so many but are touched by his dedication to the things they all hold dear.
