John Thomas (Tom) Delano died peacefully, with family by his side, on Thursday, September 25th due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. He was 72.

Tom was the youngest of three sons born to the late Laura Gaylord Cook Delano and John Benjamin Delano of Bristol.

He was a graduate of Bristol Eastern HS and The Cooper Union for the Development of Art and Science . A gifted artist, Tom was bright, creative and innovative. He was skilled in multiple mediums and techniques. Always pursuing the latest technology, he was an early web designer and software developer, a talented photographer, sculptor and painter. He also had owned a hardware store and worked at Apple, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

During his NYC years, he worked with the renowned sculptor Chris Wilmarth. He became his model maker and travelled extensively installing significant pieces in museums of the world including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MoMa.

Tom is survived by his brother Steve and his wife Aileen of Marlborough, sister in law Billie Delano of NC, nieces Darcy Riley(Chris) and Jillian Delano, his nephews David Delano( Laura) Andrew Delano ( Yonnie) and John Delano( Carrie), grandnieces Sydney, Ava and Alessandra Riley and grandnephew Jordan Delano as well as many cousins and extended family.

He was predeceased by his brother Douglas Delano.

There are no calling hours and burial will be private.

Heartfelt thanks to Jerry and the special caregivers at Arden Court in Farmington and Raegan and the exceptional team of Brighton Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
