John Frank Dembeck Jr., 73, died peacefully at home on January 24, 2025, in Hannibal, NY.
John was born in Port Jervis, NY on March 2, 1951, to John and Kathryn (O'Grodnick) Dembeck.
He was a graduate of Long Island University at Southampton where he studied marine biology, and he also served honorably in the United States Army. John had a life-long love of the outdoors. He began his career as an environmental consultant with LMS engineers. He was later able to turn his interest in fishing into a career as a fly-fishing guide and spent much of his working life doing what he loved. John was also an avid reader and was especially interested in books about history. He enjoyed spending his free time gardening, cooking with his wife, and cheering for his favorite sports teams- Syracuse University and the Buffalo Bills.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years Renee (Conklin) Dembeck of Hannibal, NY; a son, Aaron (Andrea) Dembeck of Danville, PA; a daughter Jill (Thomas) Lochner of Saratoga Springs, NY; and eight beautiful grandchildren: Andrew, Eliana, James, and Carolyn Dembeck; and Blake, Gavin, Ava, and Logan Lochner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Michael Passaic.
The family will hold a private ceremony in the spring. Foster Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
