John Devaney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home & Crematory - Historical Downtown Chapel on Feb. 10, 2026.
John "Bob" Robert Devaney, 74, of Warrenville, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 7, 1951, in Geneva, Illinois, the son of James and Jeanette (Kelsch) Devaney.

Bob was a devoted music lover whose passion for songs and artists brought joy to everyone around him. He took great pride in his collection of sports memorabilia and enjoyed spending time on the golf course and taking fishing trips with friends whenever he could. Bob never passed up the chance to enjoy a good slice of pizza, and he loved entertaining family and friends through his Facebook music quizzes, using his knowledge and humor to create moments of laughter and connection. His enthusiasm and love for life will always be remembered. Bob will truly be missed.

Bob was formerly employed by and retired from the DuPage County Highway Department. He also proudly served for many years as a Warrenville police officer, beginning his career at a young age as a cadet and eventually retiring from the department.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Michael J. Devaney; and his sister, Kathleen L. Schimpf.

He is survived by his sister, Kristine Smith; his sons, John (Carrie) Devaney-Baloun and Ryan (Andrea) Devaney; his daughter, Kelly (Brian) Minnis; and his grandchildren, Nathan and Bryce Minnis, Isaiah and Shaun Baloun. He is also survived by several loved nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation or services per Bob's wishes.
