John F. Devine “Jack,” of Huntingdon Valley, PA, passed away on February 12, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jack was born on August 2, 1951, in Philadelphia to Kathleen (née Guckin) and Bernard Devine. He was a proud graduate of North Catholic High School, Class of 1969. In 1971, Jack was drafted into the United States Army, where he served until 1973. Jack worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in Willow Grove, PA, for over 30 years. He was very active in the National Association of Letter Carriers, serving as a shop steward and mentoring fellow union members. After retiring from the USPS, Jack worked as a security guard at George School in Newtown, PA.
In 1977, Jack married Alice (née Jones) at Immaculate Conception Church in Jenkintown, PA. Together, Jack and Alice raised two daughters, Kelly Gallagher (Michael) and Lisa Zagacki (Christopher). Jack’s greatest joy was being Pop-Pop to Quinn, Benjamin, Katie, Waverly, and Anderson. He never missed a school event, sports game, or dance recital and was always ready with fruit snacks and M&Ms. Jack was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies. Proud of his Irish heritage, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of traveling to Ireland in 2003. He was also very active in the Northeast Catholic Alumni Association and was committed to supporting Catholic education.
Jack was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Brian Devine. He is survived by his loving wife, Alice; his daughters and sons-in-law; his cherished grandchildren; his siblings, Bernadette Bouks, Robert (Nikki), Kevin (Patricia), Jim (Terri), and Kathy Burke (Chris); and his sister-in-law, Theresa Devine. He will be deeply missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Thursday, Februay 19, 2026, at St. Hilary of Poitiers Church, 920 Susquehanna Road, Rydal, PA, 19046. His visitation begins at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Lawnview Cemetery in Rockledge.
