John DeVries Obituary

Mr. John F. DeVries, Jr, 67, of Rockville, Maryland, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. He was the husband of Connie Marie DeVries, wife of 47 years. His family and many friends will dearly miss him. Born September 29, 1945 in Washington, DC he was the son of Mary DeVries and the late John F. DeVries Sr. John he graduated from Richard Montgomery High School was a volunteer firefighter with the Rockville Volunteer fire Dept., worked as a Firefighter with NIH Fire Department before becoming a Montgomery County Police Officer later owning Safety and Survival a non profit organization. He was a past member at Masonic Harmony Lodge # 17, Tall Cedars # 134 Past Master 1984. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Dawn Campbell and her husband Kenny of Fairfield, NC, Terri Dennis and her husband Timothy of Chrisfield, MD, Michele Wilson and her husband Lawnell of Rockville, twelve grandchildren and twelve great grand children. Other surviving family members are his mother Mary DeVries of Rehoboth Beach, DE and sisters Mary Jo DeVries of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Christine Bender and husband Jerry of Addison, PA, Beth Tucker and husband Chuck of Frederick, MD; his nieces, nephews, and aunts and many very special friends too numerous to mention. A celebration of his life is planned for Monday, October 8th, 2012, 10 a.m. at the Elks Lodge at 5 Taft Ct., Rockville, MD with additional services planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Heart Association
