John Lawrence Dilling

Age 80, of Pleasant Hills. PA, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Born on July 9, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pa, he lived a life marked by determination, a hard worker, kindness, dedication, and an unwavering love for family. Afterall, he was a 13 year survivor of a double lung transplant.

John was born to the late Kenneth E. and Emily R. (Eshelman) Dilling and grew up in Mount Lebanon, Pa. He graduated from Mt Lebanon High School in 1964. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served in Vietnam. In 1971, he was honorably discharged as a Sargent. After serving in the Air Force, he began a 41 year career as an auto mechanic at Rohrich Cadillac working on anything from antique cars to modern day vehicles.

Over the years, John built a life filled with purpose and meaning. Beyond his professional life, he was deeply devoted to his family. He was known for his one liners, his warm laugh, and boundless generosity. He was an avid boater and fisherman on the Monongahela River.

John is survived by daughter Alisha (Daniel) Wolford, granddaughter Emily Wolford, sisters Carole (James) Jeffrey and Roberta Dilling and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Diane (Schlumberger) Dilling of 48 years, sister Marcia McConaha, and brothers Kenneth Dilling and Edward Dilling.

Family will receive family and friends on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm at Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2630 West Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, Pa 15216. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 11am at Beinhauer Funeral Home. Pastor Elizabeth Mayforth will officiate. Interment will be held at Mt Lebanon Cemetery, Mt Lebanon, Pa.
