John DiSciorio

After more than a year long battle with pancreatic cancer, John DiSciorio passed away at his home on May 6th. Born in Yonkers, NY on February 18, 1950 to Rose DiSciorio (deceased) and John Troetti (deceased). John is survived by his wife Katharine, children Meaghan (Damon Runnals), Erin (TJ Minnig), and Sean (Jennifer DiSciorio), grandchildren Ava, Lucas, Willa, and Pippa, and brother James (Maureen DiSciorio).
John was a fixer, whether it was a car, a front porch, a kitchen appliance, or a pool John could fix it (but no electrical problems those he saved for a professional). His sometimes grumpy exterior hid an excellent sense of humor, a deep well of kindness, and a willingness to help others. A curious person, John was interested in how things worked and the craftsmanship that went into them. He loved learning about vintage cars, steam locomotives, WWII airplanes, rifles and watches.
From a very young age he enjoyed the detailed work of model building, a hobby that he continued over the course of his life, as well as, meticulously restoring turn of the century rifles.
John was a life long competitive trap shooter. At Boulder Trap Club he earned his 50 straight patch and became involved in the club as a Range and Safety Officer as well as a discipline head.
He was a lover of pasta (any kind), travel (beach and sun), truly terrible movies (Carnosaur anyone?), wine (Cabernet Sauvignon), and spending time with his family. He was a mean cribbage partner, loved to rub it in when he was winning at dominoes, and always had time to do arts, crafts and games with his grandkids.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and his loss has left a giant hole in all of our lives.
